Makunda Hospital

Makunda Christian Leprosy & General Hospital, located at the junction of Assam, Mizoram, and Tripura, was established in the 1950s as a leprosy colony by American missionaries. Over time, the hospital expanded its services to provide comprehensive medical care to underserved populations. With a strong commitment to improving the social, economic, and spiritual well-being of people in North-East India, it has grown into a key healthcare provider in the region. The hospital offers outpatient and inpatient care, surgeries, and deliveries, with a particular focus on the needs of vulnerable communities. Its impact has also expanded through the establishment of schools and a branch hospital in Tripura.

We have supported the hospital by supplying high-quality, life-saving medical equipment, particularly for its pediatric and neonatal wards. Many essential tools for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), such as ventilators and warmers were previously unavailable. Our contribution focused on providing these critical pieces of equipment to enhance the hospital’s capacity to care for its most vulnerable patients. Additionally, we assist with supporting medical expenses and financial bills for children in need.

This collaboration has made a significant impact by enabling the hospital to provide critical care to children and newborns. With the new equipment, the hospital is better equipped to serve its pediatric and neonatal patients, ensuring they receive the necessary care to survive and thrive. Our support has improved the overall quality of healthcare, making life-saving treatments accessible to those in need and furthering Makunda’s ongoing mission to serve underserved populations in North-East India.
